Why Do Robotics?

Why would I join a robotics team?

The two most important reasons are:

We work hard and we have lots of fun!

Other reasons:

  • Robotics provides exposure to a whole bunch of skills which will serve you in good stead in college and in real life.  These include programming, mechanical design, learning to use tools (we get to work with lots of cool things like water jets, laser cutters, and 3-d printers, as well as the usual things like saws, drills, etc.), electronics, leadership, time management, etc.
  • We get to build a freaking robot!  In two months!

  • Tell your parents 20 million dollars in scholarships are provided each year through the FIRST Robotics Program.  These include schools they’ve heard of such as University of Washington, University of Southern California, Georgia Tech, MIT, UIUC, and so on.
  • Don’t want to be a programmer or an engineer?  We need people do do design, video production, fundraising, organization, and more!  We can provide you with excellent opportunities to fill your portfolio with things that matter.
